If you have been to the Eastern Idaho State Fair you know there are weird, crazy and wacky things to do and see while you’re there. One of these things includes a pack of baboons. We took a look at a brand new show that has come to the fair this year.
Mickey is 15 years old and his trainer Kevin has been doing shows all across the U.S. for 25 years now.
“I love it, I love animals that you can build a relationship with a bond with, I also like animals you can take anywhere and a baboon you can take anywhere” said Kevin Keith, Owner and Host of Wild About Monkey’s.
There are 10 monkeys who travel in the wild about monkey’s show, but only 3 of them perform.
It takes anywhere from two weeks to six months to train one of these baboons.
“I think if people come out and see the show they’ll have a whole different outlook on baboons, they’re very social, very intelligent animals and I think people really enjoy watching what they can do” continued Kevin.
The wild about monkey’s show is being held at noon, 3 and 6 every day. You’ll also see a dog, a bird and a baby monkey in the show along with the baboons.
“Baboons are very very social animals they really need to be together, we also have one of Mickey’s brothers and three of his sisters” said Kevin.
These baboons are from all over the United States.
The last 5 to join the group came from a zoo in Nevada.
One of the baboons starred in Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise.
