At 475 pounds, Moses Kinikini might have been the Biggest
Loser’s biggest fan. His weight was out of control but that all changed when he
was selected for season 11 of the hit NBC program.

For the past two years, Moses has been helping others at the
Apple Athletic Club in Idaho Falls. But there was a time not too long ago when
he was in desperate need of some help. Moses knew things were bad before he
joined the Biggest Loser but it was during his visit with the show’s doctor in
episode 2 that he realized just how bad things really were.

“He normally tells you your inner age, for instance I was 47
years old at the time and I thought he was going to tell me ‘Moses, you’ve
allowed your body to be as old as a 70-year-old man,” said Moses. “And again,
being such a big fan of the show, I was looking forward to having him tell me
how bad my body was age wise but he didn’t tell me that. What he told me was,
‘Moses, with all the medical testing we’ve been able to determine your death
date.’ I don’t know if anybody had ever gone through the experience of somebody
telling you when you are going to die and mine happened to be on national
television.”

This shook Moses to the core as he realized the real
possibility that his two daughters could lose their dad forever. That’s when he
decided to take control of his life. The man, who was once gaining weight at a
rate of 10 lbs. a year before topping out just 25 lbs. from 500, began shedding
the pounds.

He ended up losing 153 lbs on the show and gained 20 years
of his life back. But Moses says it’s a constant battle to keep if off.

“Real life, this is where it’s hard,” said Moses. “I
guarantee everybody can lose a ton of weight on the Biggest Loser ranch, if you
are in this bubble where there is no way you can eat bad things, you are
working out 8-9 hours a day, yeah but that’s unrealistic. And so for us to come
home and try to figure out how to do this here, that’s the biggest challenge.”

Moses says the secret is proper nutrition and finding a fun
way to stay active.

“Believe it or not, there are a few things out there that I
think everyone can find is going to be somewhat enjoyable for them,” said
Moses. “And if they find that, keep doing that. For me it’s boxing.”

Moses learned boxing on the Biggest Loser and he teaches it
to his clients at Apple Athletic. Moses has been invited back to be on the
show’s finale and he is taking two of his clients with him.
