Update: Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen says there are currently two fires burning near Pocatello and Inkom.
The first fire is being called the Blackrock Fire. The Blackrock fire is just north of I-15 near Inkom.
Blackrock Road in that area has been closed to local traffic only.
The second fire, being called the Buckskin Fire, is burning on Chinese Peak, but has not crossed over the mountain.
No homes are being threatened at this time, but residents in the area have been notified.
The sheriff estimates that both fires have scorched about 100 acres so far.
Sheriff Nielsen is also asking that you avoid the area and not park on the side of the roadway, as it is hampering the efforts of fire crews traveling to the scene.
Previous Story: Two fires were spotted near Black Rock Canyon north of the port of entry near Inkom at about 9:00 p-m. One fire is reported to be moving westward towards Pocatello, while the second fire is moving over the mountain away from I-15 and to the East. It appears that no structures are threatened at this time. Crews were notifying homeowners in the area, but no evacuation orders have been given. Search and rescue crews are also looking in the area for any possible campers that may be in the path of the fires. A third fire has been reported near Chinese Peak.
