It’s the day after Thanksgiving and many of you are probably trying to figure out ways to shed those extra pounds. Well the good thing about living in eastern Idaho and western Wyoming is the day after Thanksgiving; Grand Targhee Resort has their opening day.
It’s officially Grand Targhee Resort’s 44th season and they’ve opened up 1500 acres of terrain. 3 out of their 5 ski lifts are running.
“Oh we’re very happy, this has a been a great turnout, people are having a great time, the first lines going up were packed, people were hootin’ and hollerin’ and everybody’s very excited to get their ski on for the season” said Sales and Marketing Director Ken Rider.
Some features have already been added including boxes and rails; but each week will be a little different.
For those who love the terrain park; the Targhee crew has a little surprise this year.
“We’re expanding on sweet water so we’re actually taking over the whole run underneath the lift now, last year we were only allowed to have half of it, so we’re expanding some of our features now and so we’ll have a jump line as well as some features as well out there, so we’re looking to expand our acreage up there in terms of terrain park” said Kevin Vallade
This weekend the Grand Targhee Resort is helping out the Teton Valley Food Bank; since this is their 44th season, lift tickets are $44 for adults, but if you bring two canned goods you’ll get $10 off your lift ticket.
Grand Targhee Resort will be open from now until April 22nd.
Ski lift is open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
