Pocatello's City Council passed a resolution Thursday to increase fees for water, sewer and garbage utilities.

The council unanimously passed the resolution which will increase fees for some public utilities. The rates for garbage will increase by a few cents, while the rates for water and sewer service will increase by dollars. The rate changes will be implemented on October 1 except for the sewer rates which will change August 1. The city is asking for the increase to cover costs of construction fees for Pocatello's water treatment facility to be upgraded to meet new E.P.A. standards, which will cost around $20 million for the upgrade.
