The Greater Pocatello Senior Citizens Center is a great place to go for Seniors to have a safe, friendly environment where they can socialize with friends and join in on some good old fashion fun with activities like Pool, Bingo, Cards, Karaoke dancing and entertainment, just to name a few things they can get involved with.

"Well I knew about it before I retired, because I play pool and I just caught on and it's really been helpful for me as far as getting out of the house and doing something,” Robert Ivey, a senior member commented.

"I find it fulfilling and rewarding to have this opportunity to come up with activities for them that they will find interesting and will involve them in a positive way,” said Jerilynn Mecham, a manager at the Senior Center.

Not only does the center offer fun and exciting things to do for the seniors, but it also provides a variety of other services such as free health checks and lawyer consultations.

"There are advantages in health, that senior citizens can take advantage of , it's also to their advantage to be able to just come in and have a social outlet,” added Mecham.

The Senior Center does receive some federal funding, however, not enough to cover all the activities that they provide for the seniors. Monday through Friday, they do a lunch with just a five dollar donation fee to help cover some of those additional costs.

"Makes you feel good, it really does, it makes you feel like you are not just sitting around dying, you got some place to go, you meet people, social work and everything is just great, and they serve pretty good food too,” said senior member, Max Sherwood.

“ and there is a lot of activities that you can choose what you like and the food is good, which then I don't have to cook and I just can't even begin to tell you all the enmities that we find here, so if you want to get out, meet your friends, make new friends, come down to the Senior Center," said senior member, Doris Mart.

The lunch at the Senior Center on Monday through Friday is open to anyone with a Five dollar donation fee.
