Police: Rigby Jr. High Student Intended to Harm Classmates

Rigby Police say they have thwarted a plot in which a Rigby Jr. High School student was allegedly intending to harm fellow students.

Dispathers with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office receieved information late Monday night about a possible threat in which the Rigby Junior High School was the target.

Officers investigated the incident and found that the suspect had compiled a list of classmates at the school to harm.  With the help of the suspect’s parent’s, law enforcement also discovered a bag of weapons, including firearms at his home.

The suspect is being held at this time and is undergoing a mental health evaluation.

Rigby Police Department is investigating with the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
