The East Idaho State Fair has rides, shows, and vendors, but if we're honest with each other, one of the main reasons we all go is to enjoy that famous fair food.  A grilled cheese donut, turkey legs, fried twinkies and oreos are just a few of the fan favorites.

"I definitely look forward to the food, there is a lot of yummy, greasy, fattening, and terrible things that are just a joy to eat," said Charles Stanford, a Fan of the Fair.

"I really like the chocolate cheesecake, it was really good," said Dani Byee, a Fair Goer.

According to Fair officials over 80 percent of all fair goers go to taste some of this unique fun fair food that only comes around once a year and even though it was a rainy day Monday that didn't stop thousands of Idahoans from coming to the fair to enjoy some of their favorite dishes.

Rockin Walkersthem," said Madison Drefs, another Fan of the Fair food.

But don't worry, because even when you're eating these delicious fried foods you can feel good about it because most of it is going for a good cause.

"We have a handful of different education groups and non-profits, that this is a big fundraiser for them each year. There is the American Legion or the Boy Scouts of America and this is where they come to put out their goods for us to enjoy and the result is that is all goes back to a good cause," said Brandon Bird, the East Idaho Fair Manager.

Bird goes on to say that 65 percent of this fair's concessions are local and from East Idaho.

"This is our 30th year at the fair. Its a family affair, which is awesome, and when we are working the booth I think people can really feel that we are family. I also think that draws people in and they can feel that there's love in the food. Fair and food goes together and when they see family, food, fair, how can you go wrong," said Ryan Hansen, a Food Vendor from Yan Kee Kan Kook.

Some of the other food favorites that we had to try and enjoyed included the very popular fried Oreos, chicken wings, and Philly steak sandwich from Yan Kee Kan Kook and we also loved senior Garcia's chicken nachos.

"You can expect to be surprised by how big, how wonderful, how exciting, and how action packed things are here at the fair. We have some great shows on the free stage and you can always have that great fair food. There is anything on a stick, anything with chocolate, and it always has bacon, or deep fried, and covered in butter; it's a week where you can let loose a little and have fun and you can find that at the fair," added Bird.

For the 2013 "fairest of them all" food competition, the top three were Outlaw Catering's Bulls Eye Burger, El Lote Loco's Crazy Corn, and Snappy's Funel Cakes' Heavenly Peanut Butter Cup Funnel Cake.
