Students across Pocatello and Chubbuck put pencil to paper this morning for the first time in three months as District #25 kicked off the 2013 - 2014 school year.
According to the District, 5,904 students are registered for elementary school and while many might not be excited about a return to classwork at least two brothers attending Tendoy Elementary were looking forward to the start of the school year.
"Because of my classmates and the cafeteria food,” said Brennan Phillips.
"Yeah, my new classmates and teacher,” said Connar Phillips.
With students headed back to class, comes and influx of kids on the roadways and officials are urging motorists to be vigilant for children near crosswalks.
"Watch the road, there are a lot of parents that like to watch their kids in the playground while they are driving off,” said Crossing Guard Anna Powell “Please don't do that. Watch the road and if we are out there, stop. There are some roads that they just keep going."
The Pocatello Police Department would also like to remind motorists to be careful around school buses.
