Administrators with the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District have hired a new ladies basketball coach to lead the Pocatello Indians.

Pocatello High School Principal Don Cotant and Athletic Director Robert Parker announced Thursday the hiring of Brock Gunter as the interim head coach.

Coach Gunter currently serves as an assistant coach on the Pocatello Football team. He has also helped out with the track team and has kids who have graduated and currently attend Pocatello High School.

Principal Cotant said the school district will initiate a broad search for a permanent coach after the season is over. Cotant said Gunter would be eligible to apply for that position.

Gunter replaces Laraine Cook who was fired by the school district last week. As we've reported, a source close to Cook said she was relieved of her coaching duties because of a picture that was posted to Facebook over the Summer. The picture shows Coach Cook's boyfriend and now fiance, Pocatello Head Football Coach Tom Harrison, touching her chest. The picture eventuall made its way to the school district office and, though it was posted a while ago and promptly removed, the district took action.

Coach Harrison told KPVI News Six he was reprimanded but remains at the helm of the Pocatello Football Team.
