A little girl’s mother is speechless now that the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted her daughter a trip to Florida after fighting In-Stage Renal Disease for the last four years.
Samantha Spackman isn’t your typical 13-year-old, besides doing brain teasers to exercise her brain; she’s also had to exercise her faith at a very young age.
“The only way they found out I had kidney failure was through my blood pressure, it was 210 over 149” said Samantha.
“And the next thing you know everyone just kind of gave me this look and ran out of the room. I went outside to talk to them and they were on the phone with Primary’s so I knew it was something serious” said Samantha’s Mother, Finau.
Serious indeed, Samantha needed a new kidney.
The whole process has taken 4 years from finding a donor who matched to performing an 11-hour surgery.
“We’ll figure something out, that’s all I could ever say, that I loved her and we’ll figure something out” continued Finau.
The surgery was on December 15th of 2011; now Samantha has the strength and energy to make her wish come true thanks to the make a wish foundation.
“My wish was to go to Florida, to Universal Studios, but I got a hopper pass which goes to Universal Studios, Disney World and Sea World so, I’m excited” continued Samantha.
Mom says; Samantha’s wish has helped her throughout the whole process.
“You could tell that she got a little more energy, she was a little more positive about everything, she had something to look forward to, a goal that was hers that she could actually get” said Finau.
Samantha is very grateful and has something to say:
“Just thank you for helping my family.”
Samantha and her family will be going to Florida in May.
