The Greater Pocatello Senior Center has a brand new look thanks in large part to an incentive program from Idaho Power.
The senior center spent a little more than $17,000 to complete the lighting upgrades which will save them $5,200 a year on their electric bill.
As if that wasn’t enough of an incentive to upgrade, Idaho Power then presented them with an $8,274 check for their work.
The upgrades will improve the look inside the building and make it safer. The lighting should also last longer and so they will save on maintenance cost for several years to come.
In order to qualify for the incentive program, the work must be done by a credited contractor. In this case the work was done by Intermountain Electric while D&S Electrical Supply helped secure the money from Idaho Power.
“This is a great venue,” said Gary Peck of Idaho Power. “Obviously the senior citizens center can definitely benefit from the lighting and maintenance and savings on the power bills, all the way around. When you get to the point of delivering a check, it’s exciting for the Idaho Power company and exciting for me.”
With all of the cost savings from the energy efficient lighting, the project will pay for itself in less than two years.
