A Shelley man lead Bonneville County Sheriff's Deputies on a pursuit late Thursday night and is now facing a laundry list of charges.

Sheriff Paul Wilde says at around 11:50 p.m., sheriff's deputies found a stolen Subaru out of Idaho Falls. During the investigation, detectives learned Christopher J. Pena, 29, may be driving the car. Pena had several active warrants for his arrest.

Deputies tried to stop Pena but he swerved and attempted to hit one of the patrol vehicles and then sped away. Officers gave chase from the area of Upland and Ammon road all the way to 25th East and Yellowstone Highway where the suspect decided to stop the car.

Three passengers in the car were released without charges.

Pena was taken into custody and transported to the Bonneville County Jail where he was booked for aggravated assault, felony eluding and on warrants for felony eluding, misdemeanor telephone harassment and failure to appear.

Bonneville County received assistance from the Idaho Falls Police Department and the Idaho State Police.
