The Bannock County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday they are continuing a foul play investigation after a local man died following a house fire.

Emergency crews responded to a fire early on May 2nd on Cherry Lane in the Tyhee area.

They found Martin Anderton, 47, inside the burning home.

He was transported to Salt Lake City for his injuries where he died days later.

The Sheriff’s office is working in conjunction with the Fort Hall Police for the investigation which they began after evidence led them to believe that this case was more than just an accident.

Sheriff Nielsen says this is an active investigation and charges will be brought once more evidence has been collected,
“It's one thing for us officers to go out and investigate a case. It's another thing to be able to prove it in court. That's what we're trying to do. We don't want to try this in the paper. We want to try this in the courts. The burden of proof is with us."

Nielsen also says he has no reason to believe there is any pending danger to the community.

They expect to have suspects and charges by next Wednesday.
