An investigation that began in July with missing money from a Madison County Sheriff’s Office fund has ended with the arrest of a former employee.

On October 22, Sandra Marie Biorn of Rexburg was arrested and booked on a warrant obtained by Special Prosecutor Penny Northshaul of the Bonneville County Prosecutors Office. Biorn has been charged with misuse of public monies by a public employee, grand theft and computer crime.
On July 12, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office determined that in the previous 30 day period there was approximately $3,500 missing from a sheriff’s office fund. A Tri-County Investigation and Internal investigation were initiated. In August, the external and internal investigations were completed indicating the following suspect was responsible.

The reports of the investigation were provided to the Madison County Prosecutors Office, who in turn requested an outside special prosecutor to be appointed to handle the case.
