The Idaho Falls Police Department is getting ready for their annual “Shop with a Cop” event.
They’ll be holding a luncheon at Texas Roadhouse on Thursday between 11:30 to 1:30 to help raise money for the event.
Lunch tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased at the police department, the Domestic Violence Center and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
“In a lot of ways it helps us reach out to the community in a positive way, it’s not, most of the time officers, their interaction with the community are not always the most positive, it’s usually something negative, something has happened such as a crime and this way we get to do something that’s different, that’s a little bit outside of their norm as well as it also helps us to be able to interact with kids and to be able to hopefully impact them for the positive” said police department spokesperson Joelyn Hansen.
Some cops who have been involved in this event in the past still keep in contact with the kids they shopped with.
