The Financial Times says that several of its blogs and Twitter feeds have been compromised by hackers. The Syrian Electronic Army, a pro-government group which has repeatedly attacked Western media organizations, has claimed responsibility. A few of the FT's dozens of Twitter feeds were compromised Friday and broadcast messages supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad. One described the Syrian rebel group Jabhat al-Nusra as terrorists and linked to a graphic video of a hooded man shooting kneeling prisoners in the back of the head. The hackers have apparently spent much of the past 24 hours trying to break into the FT's system. An internal company memo distributed Thursday and seen by The Associated Press warned FT employees not to click on suspicious emails.

The Canadian government is trying to lure Silicon Valley tech workers who are frustrated by U.S. visa policies, just as Congress wrestles with a long-sought overhaul of America's immigration system. Canada's minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism arrived in the San Francisco Bay area Friday for a four-day visit aimed at snapping up talent for his country's high-tech economy by offering startup entrepreneurs a new visa. The San Jose Mercury News reported earlier that a billboard sporting a giant red maple leaf went up off Highway 101 on the road to Silicon Valley, part of a Canadian ad campaign encouraging tech workers to head north. The new "startup visa" will grant permanent residency to entrepreneurs who can start a business in Canada and raise enough venture capital.

Tableau Software shares soared in their trading debut Friday after the company and some of its investors raised about $254.2 million in its initial public offering. Seattle-based Tableau Software Inc. provides software that helps businesses convert data into visual presentations. The shares jumped $17.50, or 56 percent, to $48.50 in morning trading. Earlier, the company sold 5 million shares for $31 each and total proceeds of $155 million. Certain shareholders sold an additional 3.2 million shares at the same price for $99.2 million. The shares are trading under the symbol "DATA." The offering's underwriters — Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Morgan Stanley & Co. — have a 30-day option to buy up to 1.2 million more shares from Tableau, which would generate $38.1 million more in proceeds.

A lot of musicians, singers and speakers use their iPads or other tablets to hold their music, lyrics or scripts. But how do you hold the devices so you can both see them and keep your hands free? IK Multimedia is out with some new solutions. The iKlip 2 will hold an Apple iPad 2 or later version of the device on a microphone stand. It will also secure the tablet to any vertical or horizontal pole, using a clip-on tightening system. That leaves the threaded top of the stand available for other things like a microphone stand. The new iKlip 2 is available for both the regular iPad -- and there is a slightly smaller on for the new iPad mini.
