is adding a video service to its popular photo-sharing app
, following in the heels of Twitter's growing video-sharing app, Vine. Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom says users will be able to record 15-second clips by tapping a video icon on the app. They can also apply filters to the videos to add contrast, make them black and white or different hues. If users like it, Facebook's move could propel mobile video sharing into the mainstream.
isn't out yet, but
is already making changes. The company is rolling back the requirement the gaming console must be regularly connected to the Internet. It's also making clear that there will be no limitations on sharing games. Microsoft has been criticized for vague statements about whether it will allow Xbox One buyers to play secondhand software. Company officials say the changes are in response to feedback received since unveiling plans for the console. The new gaming system will go on sale later this year.
has completed its $1.1 billion acquisition of online blogging forum
. The move represents Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer's boldest move since she left Google a little less than a year ago to lead Yahoo's comeback. It also marks Yahoo's most expensive acquisition since the Sunnyvale, Calif., company bought online search engine Overture for $1.3 billion 10 years ago. Mayer is betting that Tumblr, a six-year-old service started by high school dropout David Karp, will help Yahoo bring in more traffic and advertisers on smartphones and tablets. Under the terms originally announced in May, Tumblr will remain independently operated and Karp will stay CEO.
