It's a zip of a deal for Avis, as the rental car company expands from traditional car rentals, to car sharing services. Rental car company Avis is buying Zipcar in a deal worth nearly $500 million dollars. Zipcar is a car sharing service and has more than 760,000 members. Avis' CEO says that by combining Avis and Zipcar, Avis will significantly increase its growth potential and Zipcar will be able to meet high demand on weekends by bringing Avis' fleet of vehicles into play. Avis anticipates the deal will provide $50 to $70 million in annual savings.

Armed robbers took off with quite a lot from an Apple store in central Paris. Police say the robbers hit one of Apple's flagship stores three hours after closing time. They apparently stole more than $1.5 million worth of items. One police union representative reports four masked and armed individuals forced their way into the store and escaped in a van. The company is still trying to determine how much was lost.

It was a record-breaking 2012 holiday season for businesses selling on Amazon. Amazon says its more than two million third-party sellers worldwide experienced record holiday growth. Unit growth solely from sellers in the United States saw a more than 40 percent increase year-over-year. And with hundreds of millions of units worth tens of billions of dollars worldwide, Amazon says its third-party sellers sold enough Santa hats for Santa to be able to wear a new hat every day for the next 137 years.
