Samsung wins the latest patent battle with Apple. The International Trade Commission ruled Tuesday that several older Apple products violate a Samsung patent. The ruling bans Apple from importing or selling AT&T-compatible models of several iPhones and iPads. Last year, a California jury found that several Samsung products infringed on Apple patents. The jury recommended that Apple be awarded more than $1-billion in damages. A final ruling in that case is expected later this year.
A social networking worm returns with a vengeance. Internet security firm McAfee reports a significant "spike" in instances of "koobface". That's a social networking worm that targets Facebook, Twitter, and users of other social networks. It had been fairly flat for the past year, then hits "tripled" the first quarter of this year, to previously unseen levels. Its goal is to intercept your personal information, a goldmine for cybercriminals.
Engage that brain before you send that next Facebook or Twitter post, it could hurt your chances of landing a job. Eight percent of young Americans, ages 16 to 24, have lost a job opportunity because of their social media profiles. That's according to a study by a market analyst firm on device research. Seven percent of job seekers, age 25 to 34, have been rejected because of social media. However, the study also found a two-thirds majority said they're not concerned about how social media use may harm future career prospects. China had the most incidents of employment affected by social media. Brazil had the lowest.
