The US Marines and US Navy forces are joining together for "Operation Rescue Mission," and Saturday they held a pre-event teaser. Summer Joy was there to see how the mission was going and to get the details on how you can help accomplish their goal.
That sound can only mean one thing, game on, for paintball.
"Everyone loves paintball. We are trying to get the younger population involved because it is a good thing for them to start giving back to charity as well. It is never too early to do that. For them, even though its not really community service playing paintball, but at the same time they are still helping the community," said Sergeant Shivers, J.T.
Our armed services located in town mainly have a goal of recruitment, but they also do many other things like help support community outreach programs. Saturday afternoon they held a pre-paintball game to get ready for the upcoming Operation Rescue Mission which all proceeds will be donated to the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission.
"We want to show that the Marine Corps and the Navy together are in the community even though we are a global organization we are still here in Idaho Falls and care about people in town," added Sergeant Shivers.
The goal with this fundraiser is to help bring awareness about the Rescue Mission and to help keep it going strong. The Idaho Falls Rescue Mission exists to serve, rescue, and transform people lives that are in need. Anyone can join in the fun and participate in the games as long as you have a team.
"Not only to get our name out there that we are here, but at the same time this town has been so great to us; we get a lot of people around here that make great marines and sailors. Our end goal is to help out the people and get our name out there at the same time," said Sergeant Shivers.
In Saturday's practice game the marines took home the win with three to two. A similar event happens on July 13th. It will start at 10 a.m. And to donate, sponsor, or play you can call 307-214-1310 or go online to www.IFrescuemission.org's
