The hard work of local fire crews has paid off as they have completely extinguished two of the three wildfires that have been burning in our area over the last couple of days.

Lynn Ballard with the Bureau of Land Management says the Beaver Pass Fire, 10 miles north of Arco, was contained at 8:00 pm Wednesday. This fire was started by lightning on Tuesday and has burned 31 acres. Two engines and a handcrew will return to the scene Thursday and they expect to finish their work there at 8:00 pm.

The 2 1/2 mile fire near Pocatello is now considered fully controlled. Crews finished mopping up hotspots Wednesday after they gained full containment on the fire Tuesday night. Officials revised the amount of land burned to 925 acres.

Crews were also able to extinguish the Little Indian Fire on the Fort Hall Reservation. Only 10 acres were burned there. Fire crews from the B.L.M. and the Fort Hall Fire Department have now left that fire.
