UPDATE: Officials with the U.S. Department of Energy say a fire at the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project's Idaho site is contained but still smoldering. Non-essential personnel have been released and will leave at their normal time. Essential personnel remain on site. Night shift workers are also being released except for essential operational personnel. Air and ground sample surveys of the perimeter were taken and no radiation was released. The fire started just after 5:00 p.m. at the AMWTP facility which is about 50 miles west of Idaho Falls. All employees of building 676 had been evacuated and accounted for.

INL does not manage the AMWTP. It is managed by the Idaho Treatment Group, a DOE cleanup contractor. Please remove the logo in the red banner and the picture of INL's logo and correct the headline to drop reference to INL. Any reference to the AMWTP being operated or managed by INL is incorrect. Thank you, Amy Lientz (Director Communications and Governmental Affairs, INL)
