UPDATE: Fire on Fort Hall Reservation Scorches close to 900 acres

UPDATE: Officials on the fire now estimate the acreage burnt by the blaze to be 850 to 900 acres.

PREVIOUS STORY: Crews are responding to a brush fire in the Rocky Canyon area of Caribou County on the Fort Hall Reservation.

According to Mary Washakie, with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, the fire has scorched and estimated 200 to 300 acres and is growing.

Crews from Fort Hall Fire, the Bureau of Land Management, Shoshone-Bannock Transportation and Shoshone-Bannock Fish and Game are responding to the blaze. A helicopter, bulldozer, and grader are also aiding in the efforts to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
