UPDATE: Pocatello Police have identified a person of interest as a suspect in a stabbing early Thursday morning.
Officials also say they are still working on locating and interview witnesses.
Around 1:30 Thursday morning officers responded to a report of shots fired. Close to an hour later officers made their way to Portneuf Medical center for report of a male subject with gunshots wounds.
The wounds later were found to be stab wounds, but police do believe a gun was involved in the incident.
Police still ask the public to come forward if they have any information on the case by calling Pocatello Police dispatch at 234-6100.
PREVIOUS STORY: Pocatello Police are looking into a possible stabbing after a man was dropped off at the hospital with stab wounds.
According to police, around 1:30 Thursday morning, officers responded to the west side of Pocatello to a report of shots fired. Roughly an hour later, officers were called to Portneuf Medical Center for a report of a male subject with gunshot wounds. The wounds were found to be stab wounds, but police believe a gun was involved in the incident.
Detectives are looking into the situation and an exact crime scene has not been located.
The investigation is ongoing.
