Idaho Falls Mayor Jared Fuhriman issued a statement Friday after learning former city attorney Dale Storer would not face criminal charges.

“I am confident in both the thoroughness of the investigation and the conclusion that Mr. Rosenthal has come to. Mr. Storer has been a dedicated and faithful civil servant for many years and I am pleased that we can now move past this matter and focus on the real issues at hand."

This comes after a special prosecutor, hired by the city of Idaho Falls to investigate billing questions related to the resignation of former city attorney Dale Storer, released his findings Friday.

Bonneville County Prosecutor Bruce Pickett called on Jay Rosenthal, a Deputy Prosecutor for Boise County, to deal with the allegations that were raised concerning billings made to Idaho Falls by Dale Storer and his law firm.

Rosenthal enlisted an experienced investigator to help.  Verna Kessler, a retired FBI Agent from Boise, was specifically assigned to investigate whether Storer had over-billed the city for litigation in addition to his contract as city attorney.

Kessler released her findings in a news conference Friday morning in the Bonneville County Commissioner's Chambers at the Bonneville County Courthouse.

Kessler says she couldn't find any evidence that Storer over-billed the city.  In fact, Kessler believes he undercharged Idaho Falls by about $4,000 over the past ten years.

The billing questions forced Storer to resign from his post last year.  Mayor Jared Fuhriman said at that time, that if Storer hadn't resigned, he would have been fired.
