Local veteran Dan Gandy started a Go Fund Me page to raise money for the veteran's home. That money raised does not go directly to the Pocatello Veteran's Home, the money first goes to the Idaho Verteran's Assistance League, a non-profit organization based in Boise. The organization then helps the three veteran's homes in Idaho.
The money goes to help purchase extra things for the homes, like televisions and special activities like fishing trips or baseball games for the residents.
The organization even donated exercise and physical therapy equipment for the facility.
Pocatello Veteran's Home administrator, Josiah Dahlstrom says some of these things would not be possible for the residents without the organizations hlep.
"I have not seen them or an organization similar to them in action in the ten years that I have been doing what I do, and so to see it over here and to kind of feel from the residents what kind of a difference it makes for them, it's amazing. They have more than they normally would, above and beyond those basic necessities," says Pocatello Veteran's Home Administrator, Josiah Dahlstrom.
Dahlstrom says if you would like to donate to the Veteran's Home, you can bring it directly to the local veteran's facility, or contact the Idaho Veteran's Assistance League in Boise.
So far $235 dollars has been raised on www.gofundme.com
