A Pocatello woman is in custody on aggravated battery charges after police say she stabbed her boyfriend with a common kitchen tool.

Around 6 a.m, Monday, officers with the Pocatello Police Department responded to Portneuf Medical Center to reports of a man being treated for a stab wound on the left side of his chest.

The victim told officers he received the injury during an argument with Whitney Kristen Smiddy, 25, over domestic issues and she stabbed him with the steak knife in the chest. Police recovered the knife at the scene in the 400 block of Industrial Lane.

Smiddy was arrested on an aggravated battery charge.

She is being held at the Bannock County Jail without bond.
