President Obama has recently mentioned that his aim with Health Care is to foster an environment that allows citizens to receive quality healthcare.
"My intention is to lift up and make sure that the insurance that people buy is effective," President Obama said.
The affordable care act has been under scrutiny in recent weeks, many Americans have complained about either losing their current healthcare plan or problems enrolling for a plan via the government healthcare website. Matthew Blatter, an Idaho State University Student is also feeling frustration. He received what he feels are negative changes to his student healthcare plan because of the affordable care act.
Blatter explained that, “Just in talking to the insurance company I noticed that the rates had gone way up. So our deductible was two hundred and fifty per (semester) and now it’s seven hundred and fifty.”
Blatter feels that students have enough financial concerns without having to worry about the rising cost of healthcare.
“I don’t know how it could be written to balance things out on the backs of students, who already are borrowing a ton of money going through a lot of expenses, they don’t have that extra money, it’s just not there,” Blatter said.
Blatter did sign up on healthcare dot gov looking for a better insurance option, however he hasn’t heard back and he has concerns with having private data on a website that has experienced so many technical problems.
Concerned about privacy, Matthew added that “A lot people say, this isn’t secure, the websites having problems. A lot of of technical experts say that it’s a terrible; I’m a little worried about it.”
