A Pocatello City Council Executive Session meeting was held Monday in response to claims of city crews using their time, resources, and equipment to conduct paving operations in outside communities.

After Monday's meeting, the Pocatello City Council issued the following statement: “In light of recent revelations concerning work by our Street Department in municipalities outside of our community, we as a City Council, have been frustrated by the lack of explanatory information.

As a result, we are securing the services of an independent auditor to investigate any wrongdoing and assist us in developing a path forward.

We understand the significant concerns expressed by many of our citizens and are determined to resolve this issue as expeditiously as possible and ensure City policy and State code are adhered to in all cases.”

let's get this straight. the city screws up and costs the taxpayers some money. now the city doesn't want to explain it, so they have the city attorney represent them, but the city attorney is being paid for by the tax payers. wow, quite a racket
