San Diego(AP) — The San Diego city attorney's office says a settlement has been reached with the former communications director for Bob Filner, who stepped down as mayor last year in the midst of the sexual harassment scandal.
City Attorney Jan Goldsmith's office called a news conference Monday to announce the settlement with Irene McCormack Jackson.
Jackson was the first of nearly 20 women to go public with sexual harassment allegations last year. She filed a lawsuit against the mayor and the city, claiming Filner asked her to work without panties, demanded kisses, told her he wanted to see her naked and dragged her in a headlock while whispering in her ear.
In exchange for Filner's resignation, the city agreed to pay his legal fees in a joint defense of the lawsuit.
