Story by Jerek Wolcott-ISU Sports Information

Utah State's Taryn Rose scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to break a 2-2 tie and give the Aggies a 3-2 win over Idaho State at Davis Field Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half Madaline Gochnour found the back of the net in the 59th minute to kick off a scoring frenzy.

Starting with Gochnour’s goal the two teams combined for four goals in six minutes of match time.

Jennifer Flynn scored for the Aggies then was answered by an Allyson Stainbrook free kick goal, her third goal of the week.  Shaw Haddow then bookended the scoring burst with a goal in the 65th minute.

The score would remain tied until Rose’s pk in the final minutes. The pk wasn’t the only one of the match for USU, Rose had another opportunity in the 15th minute but her attempt was deflected by Sheridan Hapsic.

The loss drops ISU to 2-3 on the season and Utah State remains undefeated at 4-0-1.

The Bengals will travel to paradise to face Hawaii at 11 p.m. (mtn.) Friday and Florida Gulf Coast at 6:30 p.m. (mtn.)  Sunday  in the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic.
