POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State women’s soccer team started practice Wednesday. The morning session ran from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. while the second two-hour session began at 3 p.m.
In the morning, the team focused on the annual fitness test where each player must run one mile in six minutes and 30 seconds. This season 19 of 22 athletes met that goal. The players finished out the morning with a scrimmage. The afternoon held drills to work on defensive tactics as well as finishing at the goal.
“I’m really pleased with the amount of energy I am seeing,” ISU Head Coach Allison Gibson said. “I can’t remember a time that we have had that many athletes meet the fitness test goal. This team is very excited and really getting it. They are using the right language and have the right attitude.”
Idaho State begins the 2012 season with an Alumni game Saturday, Aug. 11 at Davis Field at 1 p.m. The Bengals open the regular season on the road against North Dakota State on Aug. 17 and New Mexico State on Aug. 19 before returning to Pocatello to face Minot State Saturday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m.
