Edgemont Gardens Elementary school in Idaho Falls first opened its doors in 1959. Friday the faculty and students celebrated its 50th anniversary by enjoying some popular pastimes of the school's debut era.
From hula-hoops to soda fountains--and even a limbo contest, the fifties were in full swing. Students got to look through items that had been locked away in a time capsule for the last ten years.
Former students and faculty of all ages were on hand to reminisce about their favorite memories at Edgemont.
Principal Mike Marshall says that although edgemont may be an older building, they're not at all lacking in technological advances.
Mike Marshall/Principal: "We don't have air-conditioning, but we are one of the most modern in terms of technology. We have projectors and smart-boards in every classroom with the exception of our two kindergarten classrooms. So that really puts us in the technologically advanced."
Students will be burrying a new time-capsule on May 22 that will be opened at the schools 60th anneversary.
