The recent wet weather we've been having is wreaking havoc on one small east Idaho town. Sunday night flash floods damaged property, took out portions of roads, and turned fields into streams.
It's business as usual Monday at Thomas Mercantile, but that's not before the stores owners spent much of Sunday evening and Monday morning cleaning up.
Kim Thomas, Owner, Thomas Merc.: "I was standing on the bench trying to hold the doors shut tight. She was in there stuffing rags in there to keep the water from getting too high in there."
The already water logged town of Swan Lake had a busy night cleaning up after flash floods hit the area.
Chris Sorensen, Downey-Swan Lake Highway District: "We've had a little bit of roads washing out, culverts plugged, some of the basements in Swan Lake were flooded."
Basements like Robert Hayes', whose house was hit especially hard.
Robert Hayes, Basement Flooded: "It came in and went through those front windows here, where you see them sandbags... we didn't have sandbags on it then."
As a long time resident of Swan Valley, Hayes says Sunday's storms were some of the worst in recent history.
Robert Hayes: "It come down so fast, I look outside and says what's going on? And looked out to the road... and there was no road."
Kim Thomas: "It was a wall and when it hit that and when it hit that culvert, it just went, swish, and it was practically a foot deep out here... that fast."
And with more storms possibly on the horizon, residents of Swan Lake are keeping a watchful eye to the sky.
Kim Thomas: "That's enough... we've had enough."
