Most children can't wait to spend their days of summer away from the classroom but we found many students back in school, learning, and having a great time.
Summer Science Camp started this week at Sunnyside Elementary School. It's being put on by some Idaho Falls area teachers who love science and hope to pass along this love of learning to these young and eager minds. For the next three weeks, students come to the school in morning and afternoon sessions to learn about space, how things fly, see chemical reactions and make oooey gooey things.
Sixth grade teacher Connie Cox says it's a fun part of summer that many kids look forward to.
Connie Cox: "It gives us an opportunity to teach science that we can't teach in our classroom because of our curriculum restrictions so it's just alot of fun. It's just hands on it's relaxed, the kids just come in and have fun and we keep 'em busy and it's basically just to turn 'em on to science."
This is the 8th year of the Summer Science Camp. More than four hundred elementary aged children take part each year.
