Navy Seaman Jessie Lyon of Soda Springs Laid to Rest

No parent expects to outlive their child, but unfortunately it happens.

That's the case when it comes to Jesse Lyon of Soda Springs. The sailor's life was taken at the young age of 20.

Charlene and Matt Lyon, Jesse's Mom and Dad: "Jesse wanted to serve his country. He was just one of those kids that everybody liked. It's been pretty hard."

Sgt. 1st Class Brian Prochnow, Honoring Fellow Soldier: "It's an honor in a different way. It's more of a respect type thing. It's very important just to show the community what these people are doing whether it's a training accident or of a serious nature. They still stepped up to serve and it's just a way for us to honor them and a way for the services to be commended for everything they're doing."

Charlene and Matt Lyon, Jesse's Mom and Dad: "He hasn't gone anywhere. He's in everybody's hearts. We know we'll see him again. He's not gone, he's just in a different place from us right now."

Something people may not have known about Jesse, he also liked to break-dance and work on his car. Above all else, his favorite past-time was to hang out with his family and friends.
