The outbreak of avian botulism continues to claim the lives of ducks and other small birds at the American Falls Reservoir.

Crews are working for the seventh straight day at American Falls recovering the dead birds.  According to the Idaho Fish and Game an estimated 10,000-12,000 dead birds have now been recovered.

The botulism is centered on the north end of the reservoir and Fish and Game is asking hunters and others to stay out of the area.

Botulism is a paralytic disease caused by the ingestion of a particular toxin.  The last time an outbreak like this happened was in the late 90s.
