Community Helps Little Girl with Cancer

Posted:

Updated:

Two weeks ago Britney received the call she feared--that the cysts on the back of her baby daughter Skyelar's head were cancerous, and that treatment would need to start quickly.

Britney Edmonds, Mother of Skyelar: "They said we have good news and bad news...the good news is we've caught it fast. The bad news is that  it's cancer. ...and I just started crying."

Danielle Lattimer, Aunt of Skyelar: "My dad called and told me Skyelar has cancer and my heart just sank."

In these past two life changing weeks, what they didn't realize was the outpouring of help they'd receive from eastern Idaho.

Danielle Lattimer, Aunt of Skyelar: "I cannot even tell you how people have donated. It's absolutely amazing. The kind of people we have in our community is amazing."

Britney Edmond, Mother of Skyelar: "Everything from donating their time, to money, to food, to places to stay to mainly just supporting me through it all"

Wendy Russell, Grandmother of Skyelar: "It's just been amazing how they've all just joined together as one just for this little girl."

Danielle Lattimer, Aunt of Skyelar: "This blanket here that was donated from an anonymous donor--whoever it is, we just want to tell you thank you and it's absolutely gorgeous. You can tell they've put a lot of time and work into it"

During this trying time, the family is remaining close,  admiring the strength of little Skyelar.

Wendy Russell: "We just adore her. Every second of every day we have her."

There will be a fund raiser for Skyelar, held on November 6th at Inkom Elementary school from 6 to 9. It will be a spaghetti dinner followed by a silent auction. If you would like to donate anything or have any questions, you can contact Danielle at 339-1831.
