Nearly a year and a half after the crime the man who robbed the Ireland Bank in Inkom learned his sentence Monday.
Judge David C. Nye sentenced 34-year-old Melvin Hebdon to 20 years in prison. Hebdon will be eligible for parole after ten years on the robbery conviction.
During the sentencing hearing Hebdon's attorney asked for leniency since his client did not use a weapon and no one was hurt. Judge Nye did not feel leniency was appropriate for Hebdon because of Hebdon's history as a career criminal.
Hebdon robbed the Ireland Bank branch in Inkom in April of 2009. Police finally arrested him in Oregon after a high-speed chase.
