Lattes and drumsticks may seem like an odd combination, but for one local coffee shop, they go hand-in-hand.
For seven years now, the baristas at the Double Shot coffee stand in Pocatello have been donating their tips, one day a week, to provide turkeys to families in need around the holidays.
Every Tuesday in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas, the employees donate every dollar that they receive in tip money to the Idaho FoodBank.
On average, they’re able to raise enough money to purchase about 300 turkeys each year.
The employees at Double Shot say that they don’t think twice about giving away their hard-earned tips for such a worthy cause.
Kelli Vredenburg, Double Shot Barista: "It's very rewarding knowing that you’re helping out the community, and doing what you can and it's the little stuff that helps. It's nice.”
'Tips for Turkeys' takes place every Tuesday for the four weeks leading up to both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you wish to donate, you can do so at the Double Shot coffee stand at 164 Jefferson Avenue in Pocatello.
