Meteor Lights Up Western Skies

Daylight in the middle of the night.

That's how some people are describing the flash of light in the Idaho skies a little after midnight Wednesday. Calls to the KPVI newsroom describe a bright light in the southern skies that lasted a few seconds. There was also green trail of light.

The meteor may have been a part of the Leonid Meteor Shower event. According to astronomers, between 200 and 300 meteors streaked across the sky in a two-hour period, but only a small number could be seen with the eye.

A meteor shower is noticed when streams of debris from a comet interact with the earth.

If you have pictures or video of the meteor event, email them to us at newsroom@kpvi.com.
