BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A Boise man who was shocked with a stun gun by police has filed a federal lawsuit against the city and its police department.
Gerald Amidon filed his civil suit in U.S. District Court last week claiming police officers violated his civil rights when he was shocked and threatened in a Feb. 14 arrest.
Amidon's attorney tells the Idaho Statesman the lawsuit was filed after the city declined to settle the case.
Ombudsman Pierce Murphy investigated the case and determined a police officer used a Taser on Amidon twice, and threatened to use it on his anus and genitals Murphy also found a police supervisor erased a taped interview with Amidon and failed to complete a required report on the use of force.
Assistant City Attorney Scott Muir says the city will defend the lawsuit.
