The Act of Charity Brings Tears to Local Bistro Owner's Eyes

About a year ago, one local long-time cook decided to call it quits and his neighboring culinary artist chose to make her dream of owning a bistro come true.

Janet Winters moved into the old Continental Bistro location in Downtown Pocatello and is still maintaining her own through the slow month of October, she says when hunters are out of town.

Her regulars followed her over from the Dugout Bar and Grill and new ones have fallen in love with her home cooking. Janet has since added vegetarian dishes to her menu. However, nothing on the menu is set in stone as the Bistro cook prepares food according to what the weather is like or simply what she is in the mood for.

Saturday night a spaghetti dinner with salad is the special with all of the proceeds going to Aid for Friends. The cost is $10for singles and $15 for couples.

Janet Winter, Owns J. Anna's Bistro: "My reason is I haven't always been as fortunate as I am right now. I was never homeless but I know a lot of people that are. They need help."

From now until December 14th, Janet will be collecting canned goods for the Idaho Food Bank along with new, un-wrapped gifts for the Toys for Tots drive.

Spaghetti dinners will be served until the food runs out.
