An early morning fire that broke out at about 5:00 this morning sent several fire crews over to fight the blaze.
Hidden Treasures in Shelley went up in flames this morning.
“My grandfather actually called and said you might want to come down to work there’s been a fire, I think initially everybody’s first reaction is like, is he just trying to get me out of bed, but I immediately called my father and he said you better get down here and I started crying” said the owner’s grandson, Bo Young.
It’s a business that’s been around for almost 11 years, so when hidden treasures went up in flames, residents, employees and the owner’s family was shocked.
“It’s our life, this is what we wake up to and come and do and this is where we get to socialize with our friends and people that come in, it’s a shock” continued Young.
“It was burning pretty good and our biggest fear in particularly this building, is it’s so much fuel load, one side is just packed
full of furniture, the other side is full of mattresses and bedroom sets” said Shelley Fire Chief Mike Carter.
Luckily with about 40 firefighters and 9 trucks at the scene, crews were able to put out the flames in just a couple of hours.
No one was hurt, although there was a loss of mattresses and furniture.
“We’ve got a few exhausted firemen who are going to have to go home, catch a nap, but nobody was in the building at the time” continued Carter.
The owner of Hidden Treasures says none of their employees will be let go and they plan to continue operating in their other buildings.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the damage will be well over $100,000.
