A Tri-County Investigative team has been called in to investigate the death of a Bonneville County inmate.
According to a news release from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, jail deputies found inmate James Slate Dewitt, 47, of Idaho Falls, not breathing early Saturday morning.
The deputies attempted to administer CPR until paramedics arrived and determined Dewitt was dead.
Dewitt was arrested Friday evening on a probation violation.
An autopsy has been ordered by the coroner as is normal operating procedure for an in-custody death.
Sheriff Paul Wilde says more information will be released as it is available.
