Here’s the latest on the accidental fatal shooting of 5-year old Noelle Shawver of Blackfoot.
Her family tells KPVI News 6 that Noelle was a happy, loving child who would have started kindergarten in the fall. Her aunt tells us Noelle’s family has no animosity toward the 5-year-old accused of shooting her or that child’s family.
Police won’t say how the child got access to the gun or exactly what happened leading up to the shooting. They say their investigation is ongoing and they cannot comment on the type of weapon.
A fund has been set up on the GoFundMe website to help with funeral expenses. The goal is $15,000. As of this posting, the fund was just over $10,000.
The family has issued a statement:
From Drew and Stacie: We are very grateful for the generosity, love, thoughts, and prayers that have been expressed to us at this time. We have a great community of family and friends and wish to say thank you to all.
We’ll have more from police, the family and a neighbor tonight on KPVI News 6 at 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM and on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
