The Dream 18 Holes of Golf

When I was approached by Bill Satterfield, Darren Almond and Mike Sutorius about playing the best 18 holes of golf in Eastern Idaho I was absolutely on board.  One thing I have noticed since I came here earlier this year is the quality of golf available.  I definitely put together a check list to try to make it to every course.

But there was a twist to this proposal.  Not only were we going to be playing the best 18 holes but we would be doing it at 14 different courses in just one day! There’s nothing quite like checking off nearly the entire list in less than 24 hours.

It set up to be an incredible day of driving both on the course and on the road.  Over 7,000 yards in the fairways, roughs and greens while rolling over 500 miles on the highways, freeways, and city blocks.

I left the selection process up to Bill, Daren and Mike.  They debated for quite some time, taking advice from those who work for the courses as well as their personal experiences playing there and here is the list they came up with.

Hole 1 - Highland 18th, 475 yard Par 4

Hole 2 - Riverside 11th, 175 yard Par 3

Hole 3 - Juniper Hills CC 9th, 459 yard Par 4

Hole 4 - Juniper Hills CC 11th, 509 yard Par 5

Hole 5 - Blackfoot 9th, 364 yard Par 4

Hole 6 - Idaho Falls CC 7th, 213 yard Par 3

Hole 7 - Idaho Falls CC 18th, 494 yard Par 5

Hole 8 – Sand Creek 7th, 205 yard Par 3

Hole 9 – Pinecrest 8th, 435 yard Par 4

Hole 10 - Sage Lakes 18th, 430 Par 4

Hole 11 – Jefferson Hills 7th, 145 yard Par 3

Hole 12 – Teton Lakes (Middle Fork) 3rd, 553 yard Par 5

Hole 13 – Links at Teton Peaks 7th, 515 yard Par 5

Hole 14 – Huntsman Springs 8th, 167 yard Par 3

Hole 15 – Huntsman Springs 16th, 424 yard Par 4

Hole 16 – Teton Reserve 10th, 669 yard Par 5

Hole 17 – Headwaters 9th, 543 yard Par 5

Hole 18 – Headwaters 10th, 169 yard Par 3

A Final Recap

The Dream 18 sets up as a Par 72 just like a normal course but this was far from a normal round. I know there will be some debate about other courses and different holes that should have made the cut.  Due to time restraints (aka sunlight) not everywhere could be included and all arguments aside, these 18 holes are very worthy selections
