The Energy Systems Technology & Education Center (ESTEC) of ISU’s College of Technology is presenting Renewable Energy Education Week for Southeast Idaho high school students, on May 13-17 at the ISU campus.

Students will spend the day in lectures and discussion groups, and will perform laboratory exercises to understand renewable energy systems, such as wind turbines, solar thermal water heating, photovoltaic panels, etc.  Tom Briggs, one of the event planners, states, “The learning activities were developed to teach new energy concepts and also reinforce high school math and science skills.”

ESTEC focuses on educating the workforce for the energy industry, and is partnered with the Idaho National Laboratory and Partners for Prosperity.  This event is funded by a grant from US Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration.
