Sundance Grand Prize winner "Beast of the Southern Wilds" will be shown Saturday and Sunday, Jan 12 and 13, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the Bengal Theater at the ISU Pond Student Union. This crowd-pleasing festival winner and Oscar hopeful has emerged as one of the year's most acclaimed films with the story of Hushpuppy, a six-year-old girl in an isolated bayou community whose tough but loving father succumbs to a mysterious malady, setting her on a journey to the outside world that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality as her voyage is hindered by a "busted" universe that melts the ice caps and unleashes an army of prehistoric beasts. (Rated PG-13) Admission is $2 for the general public, or $1 with a Bengal ID. For trailer and more information, go to www.isucinema.com.
